John McCarthy, Ohio Medicaid Director, Ohio Office of Health Plans - ODJFS
Director McCarthy will discuss the changes currently underway in Ohio's Medicaid Program as it moves to a Managed Care System. He and his staff will also discuss how these changes will interface with Medicare for those individuals considered "dual-eligible". Medicaid is a complicated service system. Lori Horvath, D.O.D.D
Almost 2900 children and adults are on the DD Transitions Waiver. These are individuals who have been in limbo between the Home Care Waiver and County Board administered Waivers for the last decade. Last year's budget bill directed that they finally transition. The speaker will present details and a timeline of what will happen to these individuals as they finally make a Transition.
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. SELF WAIVER is HERE!
Gary Tonks, The Arc of Ohio
Peggy Martin, Ohio Department of DD
500 new SELF Waivers become available on July 1, 2012. 100 of these go to Children with Intensive Behavior Needs throughout the state. The rest will be based on County Board requests to the Ohio Dept of DD. When these are filled, County Boards of DD may request additional waivers based on need and available local matching fund. The speakers will give a detailed presentation of who qualifies for the new Waiver and the services one might access. The SELF Waiver is an entirely new way of providing Waiver services in Ohio. Don't miss this one.
