Support the newly diagnosed: “We were just told our daughter Julie, who will be 3 in March, has mild-moderate autism. We have been through heck and back since her birth trying to find some answers and what we can do to help her? Can you help us?” The incidence of autism is on the rise – latest prevalence estimates from the Center for Disease Control put it at 1 in 110, up from 2-5 in 10,000 twenty years ago – so more and more families like Julie’s will need help.
Support adults: The employment rate for individuals with disabilities, including autism, fell to 13 percent in November, 2011, the lowest rate on record. Adults with autism leave high school many times to sit at home with no job prospects, no opportunities and even no social opportunities. Parents call looking help finding social groups, residential placements, transition help and more.
Our Mission: The mission of the Autism Society of Ohio is to improve the lives of all affected by autism in Ohio. The Autism Society does this by working hard to advocate at the state level for individuals with autism and their families in Ohio. Your generous donations help us support individuals and families like these.
