ODMH Pediatric Psychiatry Network Launched Pediatric Psychiatry Network Launches Statewide Critical Decision Support Now Available To Ohio Physicians
To address a shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists in Ohio, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and provider organizations across the state have launched Pediatric Psychiatry Network, an easy-access consultation and support service for primary care physicians. Ohio RSC Announces More Local Partnerships Promise to Boost Employment for Ohioans with Disabilities
The VRP3 Program generates $8 million in local funds keeping $37.4 million dedicated to employment for Ohioans with disabilities (Columbus) - Eleven local agencies from across the state have recently established cooperative agreements with the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (RSC) to generate new, high-quality vocational rehabilitation (VR) programs, expand services to people with disabilities and maximize federal match funding for Ohio. Ohio mother, autism advocate is honored for work
Jennifer Brown remembers the summer day in 1977 when her son was diagnosed with autism. "Back then, they were still saying autism was caused by poor parenting," says Brown, who lives in Evendale. "They were still calling parents 'refrigerator mothers.' " In other words, cold and uncaring. That wasn't true of Brown then, now or anytime in between. Soon after Richard Brown's diagnosis at age 3, she became an advocate for him and others. She stopped pursuing a law degree so she could work with people with autism and their families. Today, she is outreach coordinator at the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Read more...
