Governor’s ‘State of the State’ March 8, 2011  Governor John Kasich's first 'State of the State' Address is set for Tuesday, March 8 at noon. The address will be presented before a joint session of the Ohio General Assembly, and will be streamed live online for real-time viewing (check availability at http://www.governor.ohio.gov/). The Governor’s budget is due within a week of that date, on March 15, and as previous governors have used State of the State addresses to debut budget ideas, it is expected there will be some budgetary issues addressed regarding the planning underway for the biennium.Read more...

The Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence has just launched a new Autism Internet Module (AIM) on Discrete Trial Training, a method based on the principle of breaking behavior down into small (discrete) steps that have a clear beginning, middle and end. By July 1, 2011, the Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) will close its Cleveland campus of Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare and expand inpatient capacity at its Northfield campus located in Summit County. Additionally, ODMH has recommended that the roughly $84 million originally allocated for a new hospital, be used to renovate the current Northfield campus in Summit County, and provide upgrades elsewhere within its six regional hospitals to promote efficiency and improve patient care. ODMH hopes to save at least $4 million in the first year which they would utilize to ensure continued client access throughout Ohio. To view the press release, click here. (
