New version of psychiatric manual released, open for public comment
The latest version of an updated manual used to diagnose psychiatric conditions was released Tuesday and the public is being invited to comment through June 15. The changes will include a new framework that draws connections between previously unassociated disorders to prompt new research, as well as including Asperger's syndrome as part of the broader autism spectrum disorders. After field trials, the manual is expected to be released in 2012.
Re-enroll in the Kroger Community Rewards Program
It's time to re-enroll in the Kroger Community rewards program to benefit the Autism Society of Ohio. Each spring Kroger asks its customers to designate the organization they want their rewards to benefit. DODD Proposing New Rule for Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC)
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is proposing a new rule for Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC). The proposed rule aligns with the Department’s goal of simplifying and streamlining rules by creating one rule per waiver service that includes documentation requirements and payment rates for that service. Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) now available
The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) was established by the Affordable Care Act. The PCIP is administered by either your state or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and provides a health coverage option for children and adults in all 50 states and the District of Columbia who have been locked out of the health insurance market because of a pre-existing condition. The Accommodations Manual - Selection, Use and Evaluation of Accommodations that Support Instruction and Assessment of Children with Disabilities has been developed by the Office for Exceptional (OEC) in the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Dover Middle School raising Awareness and Funds for the Autism Society
Members of Dover Middle School have been hard at work with all sorts of fun activities for Autism Awareness month designed to raise awareness as well as funds for the Autism Society of Ohio. Organized by Susan Hanna, an Intervention Specialist at Dover Middle School, the activities include producing televised morning announcements to share facts and raising more than $700 for the Autism Society of America during lunchtime sales of autism ribbon magnets, pins and jelly bracelets.
