National Preparedness Month Efforts - With DD in Mind

pipeline(from the DODD e-newsletter Pipeline)
The Ohio Department of Public Safety, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, sponsors National Preparedness Month and encourages people to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities. The overall effort includes a coalition of more than 600 national, regional, state, and local organizations pledging support. The DODD is among those agencies supporting these efforts, and will focus on what we all can do to assist people with disabilities to be better prepared for emergency situations. At www.ready.gov go to the 'People with Disabilities' button and it will lead you to a menu of information for 'People with Disabilities and Other Access and Functional Needs.' A booklet developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in coordination with the National Organization on Disability, titled Preparing Makes Sense for People with Disabilities and Special ... can help prepare an emergency plan to protect these individuals, their families, caregivers and others in their support network in the event of an emergency. Click HERE or call 1-800-BE-READY for this and other free materials.
