from the OACBHA e-newsletter
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) announced that it has issued a request for applications (RFA) from qualified managed care organizations interested in providing services to more than 1.6 million Ohioans enrolled in Medicaid. The request makes a shift in payment practices by stating that Ohio will evaluate the managed care plans based on their past performance in coordinating care and providing high quality health outcomes in addition to increasing expectations regarding the performance standards that managed care plans must meet to receive financial incentive payments.
The new RFA also reduces the number of service regions from 8 to 3 and combines the Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) and Covered Families and Children (CFC) populations in each region. Along with this change, beneficiaries will have four plan choices, up from two or three. Enrollment under the new contracts is expected to begin January 1, 2013.
