We are conducting a study to look at the use of an Internet-based parent training program.
The program will introduce parents to Reciprocal Imitation Training, an evidence-based, naturalistic behavioral intervention aimed at developing imitation skills in young children with ASD. This study is approved by MSU's Institutional Review Board.
The online training is self-directed, takes parents roughly 4 hours to complete, and is offered free of charge. Participating parents are asked to complete several online assessments and to videotape themselves playing with their child at three time points. I was hoping that you could pass along the attached document to any families you know who may be interested in this training opportunity.
To participate, the child must:
- have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (autism, pdd-nos)
- be between the ages of 2 and 6 years at intake
- have difficulty with imitation skills
To participate, the parent must:
- have access to the Internet and access to a video camera or other picture recording device.
- have never participated in any formal parent training program focused on introducing strategies for interacting with, or teaching, your child with autism
