Participants accepted until October 5, 2011

Participant Criteria:  Parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and service providers of High School Students with Aspergers Syndrome/High Functioning Autism (AS/HFA)who are intending to go to college (2 or 4 year institutions)

Description of Study:
The purpose of this study is to design a curriculum that would better prepare high school students with AS/HFA for college and beyond. Individuals who participate in this study will provide the researchers with information from which to base this curriculum. Based on existing curriculums and other research data, it is speculated that high school students with AS/HFA need extended training in social skills, time management, independent living, career exploration, self-advocacy, and personal safety. However, information in previous research studies on the skills needed to transition from high school to college is limited and requires further exploration. Our aim with this study is to survey and interview parents, and key school personnel to learn their views of skills and support systems students with AS/HFA need to successfully transition to college.
